• Starting with the May (Spring) and September (Fall) 2026 admission intakes, the admission GPA for applicant's with international credentials is calculated based on the final two years (or equivalent) of the degree we use to assess admissibility.
• Some programs require a specific degree and others may require a higher than minimum admission GPA.
• UNBC will be assessing your transcript to determine if you meet the requirement for admission and we do not pre-assess applicant transcripts prior to applying.
• Your minimum credential and admission GPA must meet or exceed the minimum or your application will not be considered for admission and will be closed for not meeting general admission requirements.

• Students who complete their studies at an appropriate high school and/or recognized post-secondary institution will be considered for admission.
• Admission requirements for students from an international high school
• To apply for admission as a transfer student, students must have a minimum of 15 credit hours of acceptable transfer course work, be in good academic standing and have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 (on a 4.33 GPA scale).
• If a student’s first language is not English, they will be required to meet UNBC’s English language requirements (please email admission-info@unbc.ca with proof of English language proficiency, official documents may be required).
• The admission average is calculated using English 12 or English First Peoples 12 (or student's local equivalent), and the next three highest Academic Grade 12 courses with an additional Grade 12 class (which can be an elective or an additional Academic Grade 12 - whichever is highest).
• Students can be admitted to their program without the courses listed under “High School courses required for degree completion” but will be required to take adjusted first-year schedules to account for missing prerequisites.
• In the event that UNBC does not offer a course equivalent to the required prerequisite, students are responsible for seeking and completing outside coursework to continue their UNBC studies.

• Degree and Grade Point Average (GPA) Requirement
• In general, applicants to a Master's degree program must hold a four-year Baccalaureate degree (or equivalent) from a recognized institution, with an admission GPA equivalent to at least 3.00 (B) at UNBC.
• This means that any 3rd or 4th level course you have completed for credit will be counted towards your GPA (including College courses that are University transferable).
• Subsequent coursework completed in Canada is not reported as a function of your cumulative GPA for admission, but may be considered by the Program.
• For applicants with a credential from an international institution, the admission GPA is calculated based on the final two years (or equivalent) of the relevant undergraduate-level credential that determines admissibility.
