Admission requirements

• B.C. high school graduation or equivalent;
• Or completion of a minimum of nine UFV or transferable post-secondary credits with a minimum 2.00 GPA (C average) based on all credits attempted;
• Or, for admission into preparatory level programs only, a minimum of 17 years of age and out of high school for at least one year by the start of the semester.
• Meeting the English language proficiency requirement meets the language requirements for most post-secondary courses, except for English and communications courses which have specific requirements.
• Applicants unable to meet the English language entrance requirement can upgrade their language skills through Adult Basic Education, English Language Studies, and/or the University Foundation certificate.
• Many programs require that you meet other entrance requirements, such as grade 12 graduation, completion of specific courses with certain grades or averages, written statements, references, or the submission of a portfolio.
• If you require high-school-level upgrading, you may apply to Adult Basic Education (ABE) if you are 17 or 18 and have been out of public school for one year; or have high school graduation; or are 19 years of age or older before the first day of classes.

• Qualifying Studies is for students who need to upgrade their education to gain admission to UFV certificate, diploma, or degree programs; are undecided about their post-secondary goals; have missed a university program admission deadline; or have failed to meet the continuance requirements of a UFV program.
• Credit courses may satisfy certificate, diploma, and degree requirements or may be taken for general interest.
